Foresight History

Formation:

Picture of Antique Scroll for Foresight's FormationThe Foresight Project was formed in July 1999 as an umbrella organisation representing all the blind and visually impaired groups and societies within North East Lincolnshire. At the time the groups were all operating independently with many services and activities being duplicated, without fully meeting the needs and requirements of the blind and visually impaired community.

Feasibility Study and Funding:

From the initial meetings a steering group was formed to conduct a survey throughout the blind and visually impaired community of North East Lincolnshire to determine their needs and requirements and to provide a blueprint for the future of the group. Funding was accessed with a professional consultant appointed to undertake a Feasibility Study. The study determined amongst other requirements the need for a full time officer to co-ordinate activities and encourage co-operation and collaboration between the groups and societies. The Foresight Project committee accepted the recommendations of the study and submitted a successful funding bid to the National Lottery Community Fund, and the present day Foresight Project was formed.
