We have now been to the Punch Bowl in Cleethorpes twice. Our first visit was for our Christmas lunch, which was held on the 12th December. Everyone appeared to enjoy themselves, and the meal was excellent and very good value for money. It was also the birthday of our secretary Fred Winn, we sang happy birthday, for the most part in tune, and he was presented with a bottle of wine to help celebrate the occasion. With all the positive feedback that we had, we hope to make it an annual event.
Our second trip to the Punch Bowl was on Friday 30th January when we had our first lunch and quiz in 2004. The venue was changed from the Trawlerman as many people express a preference for the Punch Bowl after our Christmas lunch. This new venue certainly does seem to be an improvement, both for surroundings and the quality, and value of the meals. Despite the awful weather that was outside, there was a very warm and happy atmosphere inside.
It was unfortunate that the food was a little late in starting but that was a mix up in ordering which, we are assured will be rectified next time, but if there are any hold up, we'll just have to keep chatting and ignore our stomachs. The quiz was won by Lindsey Donner and her team. The quiz cup was presented by Val Winn, our Chair Lady who thanked everyone for coming and their support, and hoped that we will see you all again at our next function.
