Ten Pin Bowling

Free Rollers Bowling Team:

The Freerollers Team enjoying their bowling match by John Cremen:
I am a member of the Free Rollers 10 pin Bowling Team, one of three teams which was set up through the Foresight Project in conjunction with the British Blind Sports, two male teams and one female team. You can see us enjoying ourselves in the Foresight Photo Gallery.

On The Rails!

"But how do you play?" you may ask, "Would roll the bowl into the gutter?" But that is not so. The game is played the same way as sighted people would play, but rails are lifted up between the gutter and the lane, so the bowls will not roll in, but the default foot light is still on, and that is where the sighted person can help by positioning you in the right place.

In The League:

"So come on, how do you play in a league?" The good thing is that you don't have to travel to any games except the finals. You play your two games and the scores are printed out, signed and sent to The British Blind Sports, and they match it against the team you have been chosen to play, somewhere such as Sheffield for example. We play at the bowling center in Cleethorpes, and the staff are very helpful.

Very Enjoyable:

I never thought I would enjoy playing 10 pin bowling so much, thanks to The Foresight Project, and The British Blind Sports, and the Cleethorpes Bowling Centre. Myself and others can play the game with confidence.
